Hello To The Regulated Internet, The Death of Social Media

People now days have no idea that there is a storm coming. This storm is one that very few people know about and its coming fast. Laws are currently being presented and passed that is breaking down the very fabric which makes the internet so powerful. These laws are presented to us as part of “security” precautions but are really a double edged sword.

It is important that we do not let the government regulate the internet, in doing so we will give them the power to control our history our time and lives. Once a government controls the flow of information what will stop it from censoring it? What will stop it from controlling the truths and lies? Who will want to speak their mind, people will lose in the end as speaking out will become a possible crime. It’s a sad reality which every day seems to draw nearer. I still sit and ponder how people all around the US have no Idea that this is going on. They are too busy distracted by just about everything designed to distract them and its working.

So what will happen in the end? Will we be induced back to the monotheistic concept or will we be told once again the world is flat? The idea of controlled information is daunting and with great reason, If anyone can control information they control the histories of the world and as I have noticed, there is something wrong with them too.
Social media will be like being at a local bar with police officers at every table, and the bartender… you guessed it another police officer, for security purposes of course :P

Phishing Scams, Thank You Facebook Apps?

I’ve been around for a very long time. Phishing is one of the oldest traits on the www, using shady methods to obtain user info. In recent weeks I have noticed a escalation in Malicious Facebook Applications. Although this has a positive side it also has a negative, the negative sometimes being your information is stolen through a fake app designed to scrape your personal information. Who would want your person information right? How about data providers… who else could find a way to monetize user information, why not sell it to marketers? Marketers need an audience even though sometimes they aren’t listening. Large repositories of information are always sold online to buyers who need an target audience or demographic.

The Facebook App hack seems to work like this:

  • First you create a fake app through an account.
  • Once the App is completed you deploy it from the compromised account
  • A compromised account can be successfully harvested within 10 minutes at your local coffee shop
  • With the compromised account create an attractive Wall post; Want To Know Who Is Stalking Your Profile? Install this App Find Out Who!
  • Once a user installs the app, all there personal information has been scraped and possibly account hacked
    • This technique along with good bots can make quite the successful harvesting.

      Make sure you don’t just install an App because your friend installed it and has a wall post promoting it. Make sure you know enough about any app before installing it.
      Or else you will end up with lot’s of spam in your inbox and possibly your account suspended.

Another Old Flash Design Of Mine :P

This was a sample design I was making to use in a portfolio. Funny when I brought it to an interview the hiring manager had a hard time believing it was my work, too bad for him I had my source files :P Click on the image below to see the flash design. Remember this is almost 4-5 years old, don’t be too harsh :)

How To Play Old Nintendo Classics On Your PC For FREE!

A lot of people are actually amazed at the fact that this is even possible but I assure you it is and for a very long time. Console emulation is one of the oldest underground scenes out there. I remember trolling tirelessly through IRC, AOL and DC++ networks in search of channels that served ROMs. I quickly became a collector of everything form MAME to PSOne, never getting enough and only wanting more. A ROM is simply and image or copy of the actually game software. An Emulator is the software that pretends to be the Nintendo console on your computer and translates the software so your operating system can play it. Many Emulators Exist out there if you just look for them, MAME, ATARI, JAGUAR, PANASONIC, SEGA GENISIS, SEGA SATURN and much much more. In this post we will cover how to play SNES or Super Nintendo.

Before you start make sure your computer is at least a Pentium 4 or higher for best results.
You will need to download a SNES Emulator and Rom.

You can can download the SNES Emulator here.
You can download a ROM of your choice at http://www.rom-world.com/dl.php?name=Super_Nintendo

If you can spend some money on a PS2 controller for your computer it will make the gameplay more enjoyable.

  • extract the snes9x-1.52-win32.fix3.zip to a folder of your choice
  • extract the rom image to the same folder
  • run snes9x.exe and open rom file

once the rom is running it should look something like below.

Once the game is running you’re going to want to:

  • configure your controls, assign a PS2 Controller or use your keyboard keys
  • If you have a good video card with lots of memory you will want to play with the graphic settings as well, as a lot of diffrent graphic modes exist it will be up to you to test out which one works best for you hardware.

At this point you sit down and enjoy :) If you have an question or comments please leave them, I will respond promptly.

How to Remove LiveZilla’s Footer/Credits

If you’re like me footers with forced credits aren’t cool, although sometimes someones work deserves credit it can ruin a visitors perspective who is expecting a brand.
In this quick tutorial I will show you how to remove all the LiveZilla Credits from the UI so visitors will never know your are using an open source support client. This can be achieved by following 2 simple steps:

  • edit the carrier_logo.gif image to represent you company’s brand/logo.
  • change footer code that shows LiveZilla Credits

If you haven’t already figured out to install the livezilla server files in a folder called live_chat or live_support. Do it now, its SEO friendly :)

Once you have installed your server files make sure they are located one level up of your root directory (root:/live_chat/) this will make everything look more professional in the long run.

Once the steps above have been completed locate the file named lz_chat_frame.4.1.tpl this file should be located at:

root:/live_chat/templates/frames/

once located the file should look similar to this:

lz_chat_frame.4.1.tpl
[cc=”html”]

[/cc]
Remove Line 13 so it looks like the source below.

Updated lz_chat_frame.4.1.tpl
[cc=”html”]

[/cc]

Thats it! Kiss the footer and the breadcrumb’s root gone!

I have updated this tutorial for version 3.3.2.2 (last open source version) at the following post /how-to-remove-livezillas-footercredits-from-version-3-3-2-2/

Adding Live Chat/Support To Your Website for Free!

If you are like me and have to have the latest technologies on your clients sites then I am sure you have come to the Live Support Services quarrel. Keeping in mind that clients don’t have thousands of dollars to build a proprietary solution its was clear that open source was the way to go. After hours of searching and testing various open source clients/software one stood out more then the rest, LiveZilla (http://www.livezilla.net/home/en/). This software is one of the most complete open source Live Support packages available to the public for free. The bundled software included both server side and client side applications which eliminates agents from having to be logged into the sites control panel. Providing an Instant Messenger Interface that seamlessly connects the site’s support function to the agents desktop. LiveZilla not only provides real time live support but also live tracking and logging, keeping all visitors, conversations and documents stored in a local database. LiveZilla also has visitor Geo-location by using Google’s IP Location API (upgrade). If your company is looking for a quick and professional Live Support Solution you might want to take a look at the software. The source code is provided and with an experienced PHP/MYSQL programmer it can be infinitely customized to reflect your clients standards.

If you are serious about Live Support try it.

In the next post I will be covering how to remove LiveZilla logos, text, and footer copyright information from your chat window to make your live support services look more professional to visitors.

Removing Login Fields From Justin Kliens WP-Facebook-Autoconnect

First of all I would like to say thanks to Justin for the plugin, it saved me some time :)
You can find his easy to use plugin at his personal blog site: http://www.justin-klein.com/projects/wp-fb-autoconnect/

This modification will work with Version 1.3.10

After about half an hour I was able to find the code that was causing a second duplicate login and password field. I am sure Justin was thinking ahead with the login fields but in some cases it actually interferes with the blog design/UI. The other problem was the welcome and edit profile links once logged in.

The block of code is found in 2 sections within Widget.php

The First NULLED section will remove the Welcome and Edit profile links once a user is logged in.
The Second NULLED section of code will remove the login fields.

Widget.php
Note: you can copy and past this entire code onto your Widget.php file to update it or download the file directly from the link at the bottom of this post.
[cc lang=”php”]
WP_Widget( false, “WP-FB AutoConnect”, array( ‘description’ => ‘A sidebar Login/Logout form with Facebook Connect button’ ) );

}

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////

//Output the widget’s content.

function widget( $args, $instance )

{

//Get args and output the title

extract( $args );

echo $before_widget;

$title = apply_filters(‘widget_title’, $instance[‘title’]);

if( $title ) echo $before_title . $title . $after_title;

//If logged in, show “Welcome, User!”

$userdata = wp_get_current_user();

if( $userdata->ID ):

?>

NULLED TO PREVENT THE WELCOME MESSAGE ONCE THE USE IS LOGGED IN–>

display_name?>!

## END OF NULL <-- */?>

/wp-login.php’ method=’post’>

If this too much code for you and you just want the login fields gone download the following files and replace the ones in your x:/wp-content/plugins/wp-fb-autoconnect folder.
